Meet Chef Mia

Hello and welcome to Kusina Mia. My name is Mia and I want us to get to know each other a little better. So where do I start?

Food for me has always been a means of exploration. I used cooking as a way to “visit” places all around the world. My imaginations propelled me to Italian farmers markets, French countrysides, and the vibrant jungles of Asia from my parent’s humble kitchen as early as I can remember.

I never went to culinary school and in many ways I’m glad. I continuously learn through pure work experience, seeking out independent research from books, travel, and observation. When I’m not working, I am at home experimenting. My first kitchen job was as a pastry cook for a Japanese restaurant. It didn’t take long for me to evolve and scale the ladder, finding myself in a farm to table food truck, a seaside bar and grill, as a sous chef for an Italian American restaurant before eventually starting my business as a private chef.

My intention is to better connect with my community and provide high quality services to people in the comfort of their own homes. My current business model allows me to devote total concentration to each client’s needs as well as the ability to flex my creativity in unlimited ways. To me it feels more meaningful and gratifying to actually connect with those who are eating the food I make. I hope to reflect that intention in all that I do and I hope you are able to receive that message when you experience the food!
